Why Non-GMO Meat Can Be Affordable
When you want to try to go organic with your food, it can be daunting. Organic and non-GMO foods are usually more expensive than food that has been tampered with by man-made ingredients. Organic is more expensive, because the farmers have to do much more labor. They don’t have chemicals and drugs to do the work for them. Additionally, obtaining an organic certification and maintaining it costs money. Lastly, because organic farms are usually smaller, they have less produce to offset costs.
As a result of the expense, many people who try to go organic end up defeated by their own wallets. At Keller Crafted Meats, we believe everyone deserves healthy, organic meat. That is why we are going to use the next two blogs to share some tips for obtaining nature’s best for affordable prices.
Join a Co-Op
These are also called cooperative grocery stores, and they are usually run by grocery stores who offer lower prices to to members who pay a yearly fee. You don’t have to be a member in order to buy from them. Make sure that it is actually a natural foods co-op before buying anything.
Join a CSA Farm
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s just that - famiiles and and individuals come together and purchase “shares” of a farm’s produce. That way, the produce goes directly to homes rather than to stores. It is a beautiful thing, because the farm, the customer, and the community all benefit from the arrangement.
