To place an order, please follow the steps below:

1. Click here. A pop up will appear to check if your zip code if within our shipping zones (most western states).

2. If your zip code doesn't apply, we will contact your via email once we ship to your zip code.

3. If your zip code qualifies, please select your preferred starter box.

4. After your starter box is selected, please customize the rest of your box with items you would like to get to at least $139. Once your box reaches $139 or more, your box is ready to ship.

5. Select the Frequency. You can choose between 4 weeks, 8 week or a one time purchase.

6. Note: You can change your starter box and your custom items every month if you would like. Just log into your account to update.

New Customers: Orders placed on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays will ship out on Monday. Orders placed Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, will ship the following Monday.

Monthly Memberships: Box and add-on order changes are due by 11:59 PM Wednesday before the week your box ships out. For example, if you are Week 2 shipment, you must change your order no later than Wednesday of Week 1. You will get email and text notifications. Through a safe and secure payment processor, we capture your payment information and utilize monthly autopay for your subscription. You are charged monthly on the same payment method. You can choose from Visa, American Express, Mastercard, PayPal, or PayPal Credit. You can manage your payments in your account settings.

During check out you can select a one time purchase for a trial box or choose to send it as a gift by adding the address of the gift recipient. Note, shipping fees may apply.

Each box is part starter box (Keller Crafted hand-selected butcher meats based on your preferred proteins) and part add-on items selected by you. You are free to curate your box with your preferred proteins and products but about half of the box will still be hand-selected by us. Purchasing a starter box allows regenerative farmers to keep up the good work and introduces new cuts for you to enjoy!

Shipping & Delivery

We currently ship to most cities in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and the metropolitan areas of Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. We hope to expand the areas we ship to in the future.

We use Golden State Overnight as our shipping service. Each box is carefully packaged to stay cold. We use eco-friendly packing materials. Our shipping boxes are recyclable and our box liners are biodegradable. We use dry ice instead of gel packs to reduce waste.

To maintain the highest quality and integrity of the items after delivery, we recommend that you immediately refrigerate or freeze the items when you receive them. Furthermore, you should inspect your package to ensure the contents arrive at 40°F or less. The best way to do this is to check the temperature with a meat thermometer. In the rare case a product arrives at above 40°F, please take images and email customerservice@kellercrafted.com.

Golden State Overnight (GLS) tracking numbers are issued at the time of shipment via email. Once shipped, packages will be delivered the next day or within two days depending on your location. Shipment date depends on your monthly subscription package.

Per USDA guidelines, proteins that are cold to the touch or 40°F or less, are able to be refrozen or consumed. They should be cold to the touch.

Your meat should arrive at 40°F or colder. If you are concerned that your meat has not stayed cold enough, you can measure the temperature by taking two pieces of meat out of the box and placing a calibrated thermometer in between the meat packages with the display facing out. Wait 15- 20 seconds to get an accurate reading. The temperature should be at or under 40°F. If a product arrives at above 40°F, you should contact our customer service by calling (530) 410-6000.

We ship weekly on Mondays. Orders placed Monday through Wednesday will ship the next upcoming Monday (3-5 business days later). Orders placed Thursday through Sunday, will ship the following Monday (6-7 business days later).

In alignment with our environmental priorities, we only ship via ground shipping. This helps reduce our carbon footprint. We ship up to 1-2 day ground in our region. Depending on your location, your shipment can be expected Tuesday or Wednesday on your week of the month. You will receive an email with tracking information.

Occasionally, a shipment may be a day or two late due to unforeseen carrier issues. Rest assured, the dry ice should maintain the contents of your box.

Keller Crafted is committed to your delivery arriving frozen. Utilizing eco-friendly insulation in combination with dry ice helps your order stay frozen through transit. Unexpected transit delays can sometimes occur or depending on your location, temperature increases may cause products to thaw partially or fully. Our products are vacuum sealed and packaged frozen. Packing your shipment with enough dry ice helps to keep the meat frozen during transit. The combination of our packaging and the using dry ice helps to keep your shipment frozen or partially frozen past the estimated delivery date. Upon unboxing your order, check packages for thaw. If the meat was still partially frozen or very cold to the touch like you’ve just taken it out of the fridge (roughly 40°F), it is safe to eat per the USDA.

If you have any concerns at all about the contents of your shipment, please take images and submit within 24 hours to customerservice@kellercrafted.com. We will be in touch within 24 hours.

Never touch dry ice with bare hands, or it can burn your skin. Use protective gear, like an oven mitt or gloves when removing the dry ice from your box.

If you touch the dry ice only briefly you may get a slight burn similar to touching a hot pan. However, prolonged contact with the skin (longer than 10 seconds) could cause frostbite and burns. If you get frostbite, or the skin seems waxy and sallow, seek medical attention immediately. 

Dry ice will dissipate naturally from solid to gas once reaching room temperature, leaving behind only its packaging. Place it in a well-ventilated area at room temperature; the remainder of the ice will sublimate away. Never dispose of dry ice in a trash can, chemical waste container or other garbage/waste can.

Your box will be delivered regardless if you are home. The dry ice will keep it cold until you return home that day. Please unpack immediately when you get home and store in the freezer.

Small air pockets or gas bubbles are caused by the release of gas usually from the fat portion of meat. The air pockets do not affect the shelf life of vacuum-packed meat or any other aspect of meat quality other than appearance in the package.

Your Membership & Account

For meat club members that signed up prior to April 2021, you can access your existing account by clicking here and signing into your account. Please note we are closing CSAware on June 30 and transitioning to a new and improved Shopify store. In order to continue receiving your tasty meat subscription boxes will need you to create a new account on this shopify platform.

In order to protect your information, we are asking that you please set yourself up as a new user on our new website. We have more box options, more add on options and you will get to start fresh with even more protein cuts you want to cook.

Yes! About half of the box is customizable and personalized by you. The other half of the box is a hand selected butcher cuts of your protein choice. (Beef, Beef and Pork, Beef and Chicken, Poultry, Everyday Staples or Variety) You can change your base box proteins or change your custom add ons each month!

To skip or reschedule a delivery, log into your account. You have the choice to skip your delivery for the month or reschedule for a different week for the month. Please note, you must select to skip or reschedule before Wednesday at 11:59 PM the week before your scheduled shipment. If you miss this deadline, we will not be able to reschedule or skip.

Meat

Yes, once food is thawed in the refrigerator, it is safe to refreeze it without cooking. Please stick to the USDA guidelines below.

According to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, ground meat and poultry need to be cooked within a day or two after thawing in the refrigerator. Cuts of beef, lamb, pork and roasts, should be cooked within three to five days of thawing.

Frozen foods are best thawed in the refrigerator over the course of a day or two.

There are three safe ways to thaw food: in the refrigerator, in cold water, and in the microwave.

To thaw in a cold water bath, the bag should be submerged in cold tap water and you should change the water every 30 minutes. Small packages of meat, around a pound, may thaw in an hour or less. Larger meats, like whole chickens, could take multiple hours to thaw properly.

When microwave-defrosting food, plan to cook it immediately after thawing because some areas of the food may become warm and begin to cook during microwaving.

Perishable foods should never be thawed on the counter, or in hot water and should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours.

You should cook refrigerated beef, lamb or pork within 5 days of thawing, or refreeze it. For poultry, it's recommended that you cook within 2 days of thawing, or refreeze it. For our bacon, sausage and ham, you can keep it in your refrigerator for 45 days after thawing if unopened. Once you open the package, we suggest consuming within 4-5 days.

Frozen foods remain safe indefinitely. However, for the best quality, here are is USDA's recommended freezer time periods.

Hot Dogs, Bacon, Ham and Sausage: up to 2 months
Poultry: up to 3 months
Meat, uncooked roasts, steaks & chops: up to 12 months
Meat, uncooked ground: up to 4 months
Poultry, uncooked whole: Up to 12 months
Poultry, uncooked parts: Up to 9 months
Poultry, uncooked giblets: Up to 4 months
Broths, Soups and Stews: Up to 3 months
Wild game, uncooked: Up to 12 months

According to the USDA, "Freezer burn does not make food unsafe, merely dry in spots. It appears as grayish-brown leathery spots and is caused by air coming in contact with the surface of the food. Cut freezer-burned portions away either before or after cooking the food. Heavily freezer-burned foods may have to be discarded for quality reasons."

You should store your meat in the refrigerator or freezer. If you receive meat that is partially thawed, you can refreeze and thaw at a later date. To defrost frozen meat, thaw it in the packaging in the refrigerator for about 1 day before using. For larger cuts, it may take 2 days to defrost.

You should cook refrigerated beef, lamb or pork within 5 days of thawing, or refreeze it. For poultry, it's recommended that you cook within 2 days of thawing, or refreeze it. For our bacon, sausage and ham, you can keep it in your refrigerator for 45 days after thawing if unopened. Once you open the package, we suggest consuming within 4-5 days.

Our ham is fully cooked, so you can enjoy it either warmed in your oven or cold. It's ready to be sliced and served once it's defrosted.

How to Defrost: 2 days before serving, place the ham in your refrigerator to gently defrost your sustainably produced ham.

If you'd like it warm: You can reheat the ham in your oven at 325-degrees until it reaches an internal temperature of 135 to 140 degrees. Wrap the ham in tin foil or place the ham in an oven bag. Heat no longer than 10 minutes per pound.

How to Handle Leftovers: Keep Refrigerated and consume the ham if refrigerated within 3 days of opening.

Want to save it for later? Slice into steaks – wrap portions tightly in plastic wrap to exclude air, place into a zip lock bag and freeze immediately.
